A neutral, cross-vendor communication platform which effectively links 3D industry planning with the two-dimensional flow chart and the accompanying electro-technical detail engineering: that is the aim of a new developmental partnership which Autotec AG and Unitec Information System GmbH have now entered into by signing an agreement. All current 3D systems for designing processing industries and engineering constructions can now be integrated with the 2D EMR and P&ID solution in Aucotec’s Software Engineering Base. As a designer of basic technology for the open communication platform and 3D expert, Unitec is also able to integrate more systems and disciplines.

No compromise

This facilitates choosing the most suitable systems with highest levels of professionalism for a single discipline.  Uwe Vogt from Aucotec’s development board: “The new, open platform will connect the integrated Engineering Base for 2D developments, which was previously established cooperatively, with any desired prime solution of the 3D world.  In this manner, all participants in an industry’s developmental process will work directly together with the other disciplines – even in different locations. This combination of openness and professionalism is unique.” From the industry’s structure to the characteristics of the object, all the information and logic of the 3D world is linked with that from the flow chart and detailed engineering in an easily navigable way. Even delivery dates can be connected, without having to purchase the necessary authorization tools.

Regardless of the expertise of other disciplines and with optimized license agreement costs, process engineers, mechanics, MSR and electro-technical professionals work with all relevant data and retain a unique overview of the complete installation.  “With clean interfaces between the systems, people were far too inflexible”, says Frank Mayland, Managing Director at Unitec. As a result of the Multi-CAD ability of the integration platform, compromising solutions deemed profitable “all rounders”, which usually only managed part of the tasks to the necessary control level, are a thing of the past. “This is about cross-discipline synergies and bridging single solutions by integration and process automation”, stresses Frank Mayland.

Efficiency potential

Both contract partners feel committed within their respective specialty field of the inter-disciplinary cooperation, and see even further potential for future efficiency increase. Furthermore, both aim for Microsoft connections for net friendliness. We think alike in many ways, and our experiences also go together well, that much we agreed on very quickly”, praises Uwe Vogt the new cooperation.
